In some states. Ohio lets you take the knowledge test online through BMV Online Services from age 15 and 6 months, with two online attempts per six months. Others offer an at-home or proctored option: New York, Michigan, Arizona, Tennessee, Minnesota, Colorado, Nevada, Hawaii, Vermont, and Kansas. Rules and ages differ, so check your state's page or its agency before you count on it.
Aim for 90% or better on two practice sets in a row before you book the real test. Practice questions are not the real ones, so a wide margin above the pass mark is the safest sign you are ready.
