Road signs/Road Work Ahead Sign
Road Work Ahead Sign: what it means and what to do
A road work ahead sign means workers or equipment are on or near the road ahead. Slow down and be ready for lane changes, lower limits and workers close to traffic.
What it looks like
An orange diamond with black ROAD WORK AHEAD lettering. Orange is the colour for construction and maintenance warnings.
What to do
- Slow down and follow the posted work-zone speed limit.
- Be ready for a lane closure, a detour, a flagger or uneven pavement.
- Keep a larger gap than normal, and do not tailgate. Sudden stops are common in work zones.
