What it looks like

A yellow diamond with a black arrow that turns sharply right. An advisory speed plate is often attached beneath it.

What to do

  1. Slow down substantially before you reach the turn.
  2. Check the advisory speed plate and obey it.
  3. Stay in your lane and position yourself slightly to the right of its centre, as Pennsylvania's manual advises.

On the permit test

Tests show the sharper arrow and ask the meaning or the correct reaction.

Common questions

The road ahead turns sharply, and the speed that was fine on the straight is probably too fast for the turn. Slow down well before it and follow any advisory speed.
