What is the primary legal difference between yellow and white pavement markings under Alabama road standards?

    The answer

Answer: A. Pavement markings follow strict color conventions on Alabama roadways. Yellow center lines separate traffic lanes traveling in opposite directions on two-way roads. White lines separate traffic lanes moving in the same direction, such as multiple lanes on one-way streets or divided freeways, and designate right-hand road shoulders.

What does a broken yellow center line painted along a two-lane roadway signify?

    The answer

Answer: A. A single broken yellow line on a two-lane highway separates opposing traffic flows. Motorists traveling in either direction are legally permitted to cross the broken line to pass slower vehicles when the oncoming lane is clear and passing can be completed safely. Never cross a yellow line when approaching a crest of a hill, a curve, an intersection, or a railroad crossing where sight distance is restricted.
