A mutual fund order arrives at 10:00 a.m. on a trading day. At what price is it normally filled?
The answer
Answer: B. Open-end mutual fund shares are priced using forward pricing. An order is filled at the next net asset value calculated after the fund receives it, not at a stale prior-day price. The fund computes NAV at least once each business day, typically at the market close. Investors do not negotiate the price with the fund, and any sales charge is applied according to the fund's prospectus.
